Ten things of thankful

Today more than ever I need to come up with a list of good things to be thankful for. It has been a tough week, I am tired emotionally and physically, Sophia spent 4 days in the hospital because her oxygen level was low and she was too nauseous to eat. The surgery itself went well but it's really tough seeing my little one so uncomfortable and not feeling well. It's going to get better I know, but right now I need to make this list so I can believe it.

Ten Things of Thankful

1. There was no complications during the surgery: The doctors did their job and they didn't encounter any difficulties.
2. My husband was able to take a whole week off: I wouldn't have been able to do it by myself, we took turns to come home and rest and support each other making decisions.
3.All the support from friends: Everybody prayed for Sophia's recovery and some came to visit her and brought balloons, her favorite!
4: I am able to stay at home: Once again, I am so thankful that my husband's job allows me to stay at home and be there for my daughter when she needs me.
5. First week is almost over: That means only 3 more to go.
6.  Pain medicine: Thank goodness we can get medicine to help my little baby feel better.
7. Nurses: Most of our nurses were really helpful and caring, that really makes a difference.
8. Sophia's orthopedist: He stopped by our room a couple of times to check on Sophia and he called us back when we had questions once we got home. Makes me feel like he really cares.
9. Sophia's teacher:  She has been so supportive during Sophia's stay in the hospital, she says everybody misses Sophia at school.
10. Sophia's haircut: It was painful to me to make the decision of chopping Sophia's hair but it's the best for her and for us. It didn't get too messy when she was in hospital bed for 4 days and it was super easy to wash it at home, plus she still looks so cute!

  2. Love Sophia's new hair cut, she looks so adorable, Natalia! I am so glad everything went well with her surgery and that the complications afterward were handled well. People and staff being supportive is definitely always a highlight and makes it easier for the parents. Keeping you all in my thoughts and sending healing vibes to Sophia!

  3. NOthing more trying than having to get your baby through something like this. Surgery is so tough. Pain meds are great but they come with their own issues for sure... I gotta say I saw your picture of Sophia on the blog hop and immediately thought..."WOw Sophia got a haircut... how cute!" No kidding, for real!

  4. She looks absolutely gorgeous with the new haircut.

I'm SO relieved that the surgery went well, and that your husband, friends, family and Sophia's teachers are all supporting you. Know that my prayers join those you've already received - wishing Sophia a speedy and uncomplicated recovery.

This is a really GREAT list - well done for being able to see so many good things at the moment. I'm impressed :)

  5. So happy the surgery went well and Sophia is home! And what a relief that your husband was able to take off from work to be with both of you. I've never had a child in the hospital; I can only imagine how exhausting it would be.

The haircut is DARLING. I always call that the "big girl" hair cut. I usually have one or two preschool girls who get that cut every year. It makes them look so grown up! Plus, Sophia has such a gorgeous head of hair that I don't think you could do anything to her and make it look bad!

Hope your week is relatively stress-free and Sophia speeds along on the road to recovery!

  7. Sweet, strong Sophia. She is adorable with the short hair. I've always liked short haircuts on little girls.
I'm glad the surgery and hospital stay went well. Good nurses, supportive family, and a husband who could take off work are great blessings at such a time, I'm sure.

  9. good to have 'that the surgery went well' as a part of the list.

your saying, "..we took turns to come home and rest and support each other making decisions." really resonated. decisions are always to be made, to have another who you know can support/reinforce through the emotionally-wearying aspect of what you describe... that is something that can really make a difference.

    1. You know? we learned, the hard way I must say, that we need to understand each other specially in this times and respect the other's fears and thoughts. Sophia needs us together.

  12. I am fairly new to TToT so, I had to go do a little reading of some of your past posts to understand more about your Sophia. She is beautiful! And her haircut *is* really cute!! One of the things I have learned from this TToT experience is, like you said, doing it anyway, even when it is hard, to remind yourself that there are always things to be thankful for. I hope and pray that Sophia's recovery continues to go well! She is blessed to have such a wonderful mommy!
